Hélène Dutrieu, the new ‘Giant’ of her hometown Tournai

The Maison de la Marionnette in Tournai (Belgium) recently organised the Discoveries, Images and Puppets Festival on Tournai Square. It was an opportunity for the giant Hélène Dutrieu to get some fresh air and watch the children marvel at a giant fish, futuristic characters, the large heads of La Royale Feuille d’Etain, and puppets, each more original than the last.

A new Hélène Dutrieu and mural in Brussels
The City of Brussels has named a renovated cycle and pedestrian route between Groendreef and Hélihavenlaan as ‘Hélène Dutrieu Street’. Her street borders the new forecourt in front of the Klavertje 4 primary school. The City also had a mural painted on the side wall of the primary school in honour of Dutrieu. It is an illustration of Hélène’s talents and was created by the Ghent artist helen b.
